Unbridled Change is excited to be emerging as a national leader in the Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies Field!

In just two years Unbridled Change has emerged as a national leader in the Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies Field.  Under the direction and experience of our founder and Executive Director, Michelle Holling-Brooks, Unbridled Change was honored last month during the annual EAGALA Conference as the first organization to be certified as an EAGALA Distinguished Program Member.

EAGALA(Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association) is a leading certification and accreditation organization for equine assisted activities and therapies professionals and organizations.  In order to become accredited as a Distinguished Program Member Unbridled Change went through an application and review process ensuring adherence to exceptional standards of business, ethics, financial practices, and safety standards in the practice of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Learning.

EAGALA has over 5,000 members in over 30 countries around the world and we are proud to be a part of their history books!  Unbridled Change is currently the only EAAT organization in VA that is both an EAGALA Distinguished Program Member and a NARHA center member.

foundation for roanoke valley logo$1000 Grant from the Roanoke Valley Children's Fund of Foundation for Roanoke Valley

We would like to recognize and thank the Roanoke Valley Children's Fund of the Foundation for Roanoke Valley for awarding us a $1000 grant to help us purchase specialized children's safety equipment and tack for children ages 2-5.

Previously we only accepted riders 6 years old and older in our therapeutic riding program due to a lack of equipment for extra small riders.  However, now with the specialized safety equipment and tack made especially for young children that we were able to purchase through this grant we can now except children with disabilities and impairments into our therapeutic riding program as young as 2!  This funding will have a huge impact on the children that we serve and their families.  Early interventions and therapies are a key component to creating successful outcomes on long-term therapeutic goals.

Global Youth Service Day Project

Unbridled Change will be participating in the international Global Youth Service Day and we need your help to make it a success!  Come out to the barn and volunteer on:

  • Saturday, April 24th from 9:00-3:00 pm   (lunch will be provided)

We have a couple of different projects going on that day.  One will be completing a pony wall in our indoor arena to help create a safe environment for both our riders and horses.  Another is sprucing up the facility for the spring - everything from landscaping to painting.

We have projects for all ages - young and old - so bring the family out to the farm and:

  • enjoy a great day,
  • be a part of an international day of service,
  • help teach local youth about the importance of giving back,
  • and also help us create a safe, empowering, and natural environment for our clients to heal and create positive change in their lives!

For more information about this special service day click here.  To sign-up contact us at 540-719-2171 or email at info@UnbridledChange.org

As an added bonus we are also a volunteer service site for 101.5 the Music Place's BonnaRoanoke Give-A-Away.  For every hour you volunteer at Unbridled Change between now and May 22nd you will earn one entry into their Boonaroo 2010 giveaway (this is a great package for all 4 days and camping) To learn more about this program click here.
