Bell School Blink
Curriculum Nights

Curriculum nights continue, with each night being held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on the following dates:

*3rd - 5th Grades - September 19

*6th - 8th Grades - September 26

We will be featuring our new STEAM lab during curriculum nights, so please remember to stop by Room 112 and see the new space. We are very excited about this new innovative programming at Bell, and we can't wait to share all of the special activities that the STEAM lab has to offer our students.

Parenting Perspectives Workshops

Bell is expanding its partnership with Parenting Perspectives and will offer a 4 week parenting workshop entitled "Conscious Parenting." This highly acclaimed course will provide practical tips and creative approaches aimed at helping you navigate through some of the toughest challenges of parenting. You will develop a solid parenting plan and acquire over 100 parenting tools for raising respectful, responsible, resilient children. The dates for the workshops are Wednesday, October 4, 11, 25 and November 1 from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m.

We encourage you to sign up now and reserve your spot. More information and a link to register can be found here

Extended Lunch Fridays

This year our lunch periods on Fridays will be 15 minutes longer due to integrating a teacher prep period into our weekly schedule. Students will have 30 minutes to eat and 30 minutes to play on Fridays, which will be a nice way to end the week. This will take the place of quiet time in most classrooms so instructional time is not impacted. Right at School coaches and school staff will continue to monitor students during this extended lunch period. One more reason to say TGIF!

5th Grade Teacher Search

As many of you know, our current 5th grade class sizes are very large, with only three classroom teachers. Now that we have a better picture of enrollment and resources, we believe our students should have smaller class sizes in order to provide the best possible learning experience for them this year. Ms. Miller asked the Local School Council to approve the use of funds to purchase an additional teaching position for our 5th grade, and they voted to allocate the funds. Read more here...

The Bell Local School Council has formed a Strategic Planning Committee to help the LSC and Principal Miller address some bigger picture issues such as enrollment, the parent survey, and the "three programs--one school" model that has made Bell so unique.

Please join us at our next meeting, October 4 at 6:00 p.m. to either learn more about the SPC or to volunteer to be part of the SPC. For more information, click here.

Tools & Lego Donations Needed

Bell's new STEAM lab is gearing up for an exciting year! As you can imagine, in order to make things, we need certain supplies. Ms. Aldrin will be sharing some of the specific needs that we have, and hopefully we will be able to repurpose some of the things that you have around your house.

First, we need some basic tools. If you have an extra hammer, screwdriver or pliers that you can share, please bring them to school.

Second, we need many Lego pieces. We will be setting up a Lego wall and can use any and all Lego pieces that you have lying around and keep stepping on!

There will be a box for donations by the front desk. Thank you in advance for helping with this new space!
