Every woman has the right to know about the dangers of consuming alcohol and other drugs during her pregnancy. As Charles Malik once said: "The fastest way to change society is to mobilize the women of the world."

Meet your Beginnings Health Education & Youth Outreach Interns Cal Poly students, Chelsea McAllister & Claire Louie started with us in February and will be working with Beginnings until June. Chelsea is a Graphic Communications major and Claire is majoring in Kinesiology so I am very excited about the range of knowledge and interests they bring to the Beginnings team. Their main focus will be on designing a media campaign for the 'Not A Mixer' youth ad campaign and on creating a youth friendly section of our Beginnings website. Welcome Chelsea & Claire!

Beginnings Partners at French Hospital Medical Center "Prevention, Screening & Assessment: The Spectrum of FASD in San Luis Obispo County" was the title of the lecture given by Nisha Abdul-Cader, MD (Martha's Place); Jan Campbell, RN (Public Health); and Shannon Klisch, MPH (Beginnings Coord.). The lecture brought up a lot of good questions from the attendees which included medical staff, probation, and local educators. We hope to continue to do this kind of outreach in the future so if you have a group in mind, e-mail me at: sklisch@slocap.org.
