From the President

helaine
I can’t believe that two years ago I accepted the position of board president of Jewish Family Service. How time flies. I have been a board member for over ten years and the step to the presidency took some thought. But I knew how supportive the board, the staff and especially Jerry Starr, our director, are and then the decision became easy.

Over the past two years, we have accomplished so much. Through the generosity of our donors and supporters, we are in a secure financial place. With our fundraisers of the fitness challenge, the Final Four basketball event, the symposiums featuring author Ilene Beckerman and film maker, Nina Meredith, and the challenge grant, we have achieved wonderful results. We have been able to partner with Grow a Row, as a result of a project done by volunteer Lucy Scaglione, to support our food assistance program and provide fresh produce to our clients. Our building is in fine working order to house our staff and clients safely and securely. Our volunteers continue to impress us with their donations of time and compassion. And JFS is no longer is the best kept secret in town.

Every time I attend an event or meeting, or even walk through the halls of our building, I am bursting with pride. I hope my involvement has made a dent in the accomplishments of this wonderful agency. I am proud to pass the gavel over to Wally Yosafat, who will continue to lead us to even greater heights. .Have a safe and wonderful summer. We will not be sleeping here on West High Street! Programs and counseling will continue on as always!
Thank you to my friends and family for always supporting me Remember to support JFS in any way you can. It’s always appreciated.
