January 2012
Every year, Facing History works with independent filmmakers to bring you video content that can support your work and energize your classroom. This month we would like to highlight three films and video collections that support Facing History's sequence of study. Earlier this week, The Working Group launched the Not in Our School video collection, followed by a PBS special, Class Actions, that will air on February 13 at 10:30 p.m. These films highlight young people who are taking action to make their schools and communities safer and more inclusive. On February 2 at 10:00 p.m., Daisy Bates: First Lady of Little Rock premieres on PBS. This film about Ms. Bates and the Little Rock Nine supports our resource Choices in Little Rock. And coming to theaters in March is Bully, a new documentary by Lee Hirsch that follows five kids and families to confront bullying's most tragic outcomes. Facing History is an educational partner, creating "A Guide to Bully: Fostering Empathy and Action in Schools," available in mid-February.
