Dear Sharl,
The MSSF 5th Annual Take Me Fishin'! fishing derby and nature appreciation event was a great success with more and larger fish caught than ever before. Also available were several nature activity centers designed to inspire young people towards good stewardship of the natural environment. We lost count, but we estimate that over 150 children and their families attended this free, community-spirited event. Our dedicated volunteers did a great job and are already planning next year's event for September 29, 2012!
I've included a few photos below. You can view more photos of Take Me Fishin'! 2011 at www.friendsmssf.com.
I hope you will join me in thanking all of the volunteers, DCR Staff, and business owners who helped make this year's event another huge success. Each of them deserves public recognition and appreciation, which, unfortunately, can't happen anymore in the newspapers and can only happen here. Please see the Partners, Supporters and Volunteers' list below, and when you get the chance, thank them in person for contributing to a wonderful and much loved community event.
Please also join me in thanking the two professional photographers who volunteered as judges of the FMSSF 3rd Annual Photo Contest. They are: Shawn P. Carey, Migration Productions and Eduardo del Solar, Eduardo del Solar Nature Photography. Take a few minutes to view their web sites. I know you'll enjoying seeing the artists' images.
You may view the winning photographs for 2011 below. All of the entries are on the online gallery here. Congratulations to all the winners, and thank you to all the participants.
We'll be looking forward to seeing you at the FMSSF booth at Cranberry Harvest Celebration in Wareham on October 8-9. Stop by and say hello!
Happy hiking,
Sharl Heller
President, FMSSF
