Chinese Courses 2011-2012

ODE Principal Visits China

The Office of Distance Education is making plans to offer Mandarin Chinese instruction next year. This instruction will be made possible through a partnership with the Confucious Institute at the University of Central Arkansas, in conjunction with the Arkansas Department of Education.

ODE Principal, Mr. David Slaymaker, is currently in China visiting schools, meeting Chinese educators, and learning about the Chinese educational system. Along with 17 other Arkansas educators, Slaymaker is researching how to create a Chinese language program in American schools.

Nationwide Collaborations

NDLW Collaboration Fall 2010 054_0001 In November, classes from the Office of Distance Education (ODE) in Hot Springs, Arkansas connected foreign language students across county and state borders as a part of National Distance Learning Week.
Six classes that consisted of students from elementary to level four high school foreign language classes participated in the collaborations successfully.
