The month of November is packed with oikos excitement! With the first ever oikos FutureLab and the oikos Conference around the corner, the town of St. Gallen will be bustling with oikees and sustainability experts from all over the world. But don't worry if you're not around Switzerland this time and find out in this newsletter what else is going on in the oikos sphere around the world and get involved in oikos student, academic and/or alumni projects in. Three oikos Chapters – Ahmedabad, Bayreuth, Warsaw – joined international Photo Contest ‘Sustainable Unity’ organized by oikos Tbilisi. Selected photographs will be presented during the Future Lab, on 15th of November, and the author of the best one will be awarded.
The oikos network is expanding further, as students of Business School of Lausanne decided to establish their own oikos Chapter. In this turning point for your University we wish you loads of ideas and motivation!
oikos Maastricht set out on a journey to Bonn. During this Study Trip they visited Solarworld – an upcoming company in renewable energy sector and BMZ - the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development to find out about its foreign aid programs.

oikos Academic
October 28 was the submission deadline for the 9th oikos Global Case Writing Competition 2012. We received great submissions from 4 continents. Winning cases will be presented at the Academy of Management Conference in Boston (Aug. 4-7). In Boston we will also host the third oikos academic alumni meeting - if you have proposals for the right location - please drop us a line.
Jost Hamschmidt, who is heading the oikos academic projects, has been invited to serve on the advisory board of the first annual Sustainability, Ethics and Entrepreneurship (SEE) Conference at the University of Denver (April 12-13, 2012). Submit a paper and meet speakers such as Jay Barney, Tom Dean and Sankaran Venkataraman.
If you are engaged in teaching Sustainabiltiy, we invite you to submit contributions to the 2012 GRONEN Conference Professional Development Workshops: We especially encourage contributions in the fields of curricula Development, Methods in Teaching Corporate Sustainability and Impact Assessment.
Apropos teaching: By the end of this month we will publish issue four of oikos case quarterly - this time with a focus on Water - 6 cases are featured by their authors - read about Andy Hoffman's experience with Coke on the U. Michigan Campus, Kevin McKague's case on Water Management and Public Private Partnerships in Tanzania and other prize winning cases.

30 seconds with...
Levani Pangani, Founder and President of oikos Tbilisi Levani is currently a president of oikos Tbilisi, our first chapter in Georgia. He studies for his bachelor degree in Macroeconomics at Tbilisi State University. His desire is to make a contribution for the promotion of sustainability change and support economic growth.
Being one of the newest oikos chapters, oikos Tbilisi has already achieved a lot through a series of ground-breaking projects. At this stage, Levani is coordinating a number of important projects, such as oikos Tbilisi Conference: “Examination of Higher Education Reforms and the Quality of Higher Education in Georgia”, oikos Photo Contest “Sustainable Unity” and many other sustainable projects.

06 - 12 November: oikos Winter School in Berlin!
For the 8th time the Winter School will enable international students to act sustainably and embrace social entrepreneurship in a weeklong series of workshops, lectures, networking and insights on social enterprises.
The third coaching weekend will be held from November 12-13 at the Hub Zurich with participants from Croatia, India, and Poland.
12 - 13 November: oikos Presidents' Kick-Off
The Presidents' Kick-Off
Weekend, also at the Hub Zurich, will bring together the Presidents of oikos Chapters to strategise how to make their Chapter successful at their university, and to learn from each other how to solve common Chapter problems.
13 November: Alumni Convenors will come together for a strategy meeting in The Hub Zürich.
14 November: Legislative Meeting
During the first day of FutureLab, in a very democratic manner, we will be changing regulations that constitute oikos and we'll be reshaping our network. Don't miss the fun!
14 - 15 November: oikos FutureLab The first event to gather the whole oikos family of students, alumni, partners, advisors and faculty. Currently we have over 140 participants from 20 countries.
17 – 18 November: oikos Conference in St Gallen
This year’s conference, organized by oikos St Gallen, is lead by the question ‘profits without hunger and thirst?’. Gathering of scientists, firm representatives and student participants will discuss how to abolish the lack of sustainability at the nutrition industry.
