oikos Newsletter
December '15
be informed - get involved - make a difference
Dear Adriana,
Here we are, we have come to the final month of 2015. Whilst we put together the Annual Report of 2015, in this newsletter we look back at a packed Parisian oikos experience: the COY11, the Entretien de Royaumont (article to come soon) and the oikos alumni dinner. You can also read about the conference oikos ANU successfully delivered in November. The FutureLab videos are also almost all out on our channels, make sure you do not miss out on watching the inspiring speeches. And whilst we talk of videos, take a look at ARTE's documentary that oikos collaborated with: Operation Climat.
This month, we have two special interns of oikos who share their experience in the 30seconds with... We hope to work with more committed interns in 2016! Finally, as we all move into 2016 and fill our agenda's, do not forget to save the many dates in which you can meet oikos and be part of the oikos journey! Happy reading and happy December!
oikos Takes Over the COY11 in Paris
On November 26th, 2015, 14 oikos members entered the Parc des Expositions of Paris. Coming from Germany, Switzerland, France, Austria and the UK, they were greeted by a vibrant crowd of young people from more than 180 countries. Read more about the oikos experience at the youth event of the year.
oikos ANU Organises Climate Change Event #BeTheDrivingForce
Eighty participants gathered at the Africa Nazarene University (ANU) in Nairobi, Kenya at the end of November. The morning started off with a warm welcome on behalf of the Vice Chancellor of the ANU. He was followed by Mr. John Kioli, Chair of the KCCWG and Dr. Richard Lesiyampe, from the Ministry of Environment, Water and Natural Resources.

The FutureLab 2015 - Literally Making Education Matter
It has already been more than a month since we closed the FutureLab 2015. However, we are still updating our EdCast page with insights, articles, interviews and videos from the conference. Make sure you keep an eye on it to keep being inspired.

Watch Operation Climate here!
At the beginning of the Summer 2015, oikos joined forces with ARTE and others, to create a documentary on climate change made by European citizens. The result is a montage that reflects all citizens' dearest spots in all corners of Europe. Operation Climat is part of the documentary 'Nos Chers Paradis'.

30 seconds with...
Florian Muller and Katierina Buben, oikos Interns August-November, 2015
"My internship in oikos began from October 13th, 2015. Although the whole exclusive opportunity to a picturesque country preparation began much earlier. Being a student at the Warsaw School of Economics, I had the possbility to choose majors and I got a change to apply for a project 'Eco-innovations in cities'. The project, which were closely connected to environmental, ecological and economic aspects, consisted of six subjects. As a student, I also got a change to do an internship either in Poland or abroad. Choosing a country for the internship was a challenge for me. Taking into consideration that all countries make efforts to be sustainable and environment-friendly, the variety of the projects was vast. Although, I must admit, that Switzerland was one of the main countries, which showed its sustainability on each step."
"The reason I chose to follow an internship at oikos is because I wanted tobeenfit from the experience of working within a reputable NGO. I wanted a new challenge and to learn and develop new sets of skills and dispose my knowledge, which I gained during my studies."
