Jump Rope for Heart  Jump Rope for Heart will be on Thursday, March 18th in the Maxwell Gym from 2:45-3:45.

PTA Elections are April 6th  On Tuesday, April 6th, 2010 our PTA will be voting on the leaders for the 2010-2011. Parent volunteerism is the best way to make Maxwell the best school in the city! Your time and efforts speak volumes for advocating for your children. Whether you are new to PTA, or are an experienced parent, become an active member of PTA and make a difference! Elected positions are: President-Elect, Recording Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Vice President, Fundraising Vice President and Hospitality Vice President.
Not interested in holding an officer position, not a problem! We are also seeking the following committee chairs: Newsletter, Art to Remember, CATS Snacks, 5th Grade Breakfast, Fun Day, Health Fair, Jump Rope for the Heart, KY Kids Day, Box tops, Maxwell Merchandise, Directory, Reflections, Homeroom Parents, Walk Your Kids to School Day, Yearbook Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator and Website/Communications.

African-American Read-In Rescheduled (Wednesday, June 2nd) Due to the recent snow day, we had to reschedule the African-American Read-In for Wednesday, June 2nd. We are in need of volunteers to read to our students. Book Fair & Bedtime Story NIght
Mr. Brewer is still looking for volunteers to assist with the book fair. All volunteers receive 25% off the books they purchase either before, during or after their shift. The shifts are: 3/3/10 (11:30am-2:30pm), 3/4/10 (7:30am-3pm), 3/4/10 (Family Night; 5:30pm-7:30pm), 3/5/10 (7:30am-3pm), 3/8/10 (7:30am-4pm), 3/9/10 (7:30am-3pm), 3/10/10 (7:30am-3pm), 3/11/10 (7:30am-3pm), 3/12/10 (7:30am-3pm & 3pm-5pm). If you are available for any time during the fair, please contact Mr. Brewer at adam.brewer@fayette.kyschools.us.
On Thursday, 3/4/10 we will be hosting a Family Night. Bring your pajamas and pillows and get ready for some fun and reading! Cookies and cocoa will be provided; courtesy of PTA.

Art to Remember (ATR) orders have been sent home with your child. You may send in additional artwork from home but please indicate which picture will be used for each product ordered.
Art to Remember is a company that puts the children''s artwork on products for wonderful keepsakes! Please return these orders by March 15th. These orders will be back in April in time for Mother''s Day. I have a red square carton on top of the teacher''s mailboxes located in the mail room for the Art to Remember orders. We give 50 % of the profits to the Spanish Language Art Department so that materials and supplies may be purchased. We have been able to purchase items such as arts and crafts supplies, cooking utensils, cooking supplies, oven, E.L.M.O. device, food for cooking class,etc. Your child may turn them in to the teacher or place them directly in the red carton in the mail room. *FYI: Some children were given an envelope even if they were not able to complete an artwork in class. You may send in something from home.
