| Credit Reports for Employment: What are your Obligations as Employers?
The use of credit reports in hiring has increasingly been scrutinized. The EEOC recently issued an advisory letter on the use of Credit Checks as employee selection criteria. Just hours later, Governor Kulongoski of Oregon signed legislation prohibiting employers from using credit history in making hiring, discharge, promotion and compensation decisions unless the employee/applicant is given advanced written notice and the information is significant to the position.
For many employers, a Credit History Report is a commonly requested element of their background check program, allowing them to measure the level of responsibility of each applicant. What do these laws mean to you? What are your obligations and how will you be affected?
Find out, by joining our webinar on June 3 at 10 am Pacific. Even better, this one hour session has been approved by the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) for recertification credit. Vincent Pascarella, a licensed attorney and certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), will be presenting.

WorkfitSM Highlight: An Alernative to Physical Examinations
Is your company looking for a way to reduce your worker's compensation claims? Have you thought about performing physical examinations on your employees prior to job placement, but the costs were just too expensive?
If so, there is an alternate solution, USA-FACT's WorkfitSM Physical Assessments.
What is Workfit? Workfit Physical Assessments are post-offer, pre-placement medical evaluations that allow employers to assess a worker's safety and health history while following state and federal guidelines and requirements.
How does Workfit work? Individuals call a toll free number, enter their identifying and contact information, and complete a series of questions regarding their health and safety history. The questions are administered via Automatic Voice Response (AVR). Answers are then medically reviewed and a final adjudicated report (without medical information) is sent to the client as early as the next business day.
What are benefits of WorkfitSM?Workfit is a cost-effective solution to help you place individuals in the right positions, reducing your worker's compensation claims and providing you with a safe and healthy work environment for your employees and customers.
