All of us at Hartford Food System hope you are having a great summer. Here we are hard at work in our busiest time of the year. The Grow Hartford
harvest is coming in strong and we are delivering Hartford-grown produce to our CSA members every week. The North End Farmer's Market is in full swing with beautiful fresh fruits and vegetables and we're getting lots of great (and appreciated) help from the community and local youth. We are also kicking off planning for the expansion of our urban agriculture to a new site on Main Street. Stay tuned for more news about this exciting venture!
North End Farmers MarketCome out to 80 Coventry St. in front of the North End Senior Center every Wednesday between 10am and 1pm for the best, farm-fresh local
produce. So far this season, in addition to the wonderful fruits and vegetables, we've had great music, as well as live stories from local author E. Diann Cook. On August 25th the Bob Paskowitz quartet will be performing live music to accompany your purchases of some of the Hartford area's best locally grown produce.
Everything's in bloom and it's delicious! The Grow Hartford youth crew have been hard at work harvesting everything from garlic to squash at our three farm sites on Laurel, Broad and Zion Streets in Hartford. Each Thursday, we're delivering pounds of fresh veggies to our lucky CSA members. At the Parker Memorial Family Center, we're helping Hartford's youngsters learn about where fresh food comes from with a "Grow with Me" garden where they are producing ingredients to make a tasty, healthy pizza!
And in other news...Efforts continue on food policy that supports access to healthy food for all
of our residents. And, we continue our work with Hartford's corner markets
to help them and their customers create a healthier Hartford.
NONE of this would be possible without the continued support of
caring and generous community members like you! Thanks for everything you
do to help Hartford Food System be successful. If you want to hear more
about any of our programs, please get in touch!
