The REAL Difference a Job Makes

Family in SillouetteJohanna started a wage subsidy work placement on July 7, 2014 with a not-for-profit organization as an Administrative Assistant and in early August she was promoted by her employer assuming the duties of a Trainer. Here is what she has to say about what this has meant to her and her family:

"I just want to take this opportunity to thank the CCRW for this wonderful program, and for all the assistance I have received from the Ready to Work Inclusion Program (RWIP). The chair and foot rest that you have purchased on my behalf, really helps with pain management! I also want to make a special mention about the great support and help I have received from Kathi Haugh. She certainly is one tenacious lady, a good saleswoman and a tough negotiator on behalf of us, her clients! It has been a great comfort to me to have her and the RWIP in my corner – finally, someone on MY side just when I felt no one really cares!

Before joining the RWIP, I had actually given up hope to ever get back in the working environment again. However, thanks to the RWIP and especially Kathi’s persistence and tenacity in just keeping on trying to find a suitable placement for me, coaching me for interviews, assisting me by editing my cover letters and revising my resume, I am finally back in work!!!

I don’t really have words to describe the change in my outlook on life since I started working on July 7th , just to feel like I do actually have some value and that I can get up in the mornings with a job to go to again! Not even to mention the huge financial difference actually receiving an income is making to my and my family’s life, at a time when it is much needed! My husband was laid off in 2012 – and although he managed to find alternative employment after some time, he took a huge drop in salary, all this when I couldn’t contribute to the household at all due to my inability to find any employment. Our finances have been dwindling since, and this work placement has also made a huge difference in my husband’s general outlook on life. We both have hope for the future again!

Thank you again for your support and help. Please pass on my heartfelt thanks to the authorities who have initiated this wonderful program."
