August's Featured Artist Event:  Andrew Butler @ The Clover Club (Aug. 18th)dads.jpg

We're lucky to work with incredible artists, and we want you to meet them!

The DTE board invites you to an evening of performances from DTE teaching artist Andrew Butler and cocktails from the legendary mixologists at the Clover Club  (recently named one of "America's best bars" by Esquire).

Andrew has done beautiful work at our in-school & on-site programs with teens; his own performances are a singular mash-up of sincerity, satire, and off-kilter comic storytelling (check out his hilarious sketch comedy group [with Matt Gehring & Jeanna Phillips], Tenured Faculty, in the video above).

This is your chance to say "I saw him when..." and to see the exciting work the artists of the DTE family do when they're not in the classroom.  Also learn about what we've been up to this summer (short answer: a lot) and what we've got in store for the fall.

Wednesday, August 18th @ The Clover Club: 210 Smith Street (Between Butler and Baltic).

6pm-8pm.   $10 suggested donation includes free hors d' oeuvre & raffle ticket for a great prize package (including autographed cookbook!) from Frankie's 457.

Keep Angels Alive in Brooklyn kickstart.jpg MAS.jpg

Dance Theatre Etcetera's one-of-a-kind site-specific piece, Angels and Accordions, is scheduled to have its final performances this fall (Oct. 9th).  With the recession moving into its third year, though, we need your help to avoid making drastic cuts to the production.

It's a funny time to be in danger of losing this beloved performance event- just last month, the Municipal Arts Society honored us alongside Green-Wood Cemetery with a prestigious Certificate of Merit for the production.

Allison Tocci, President of Time Out Inc., and the MAS Award Committee Member who nominated Angels, spoke of the tens of thousands of events that come through her magazines every year, and singled out Angels as her "President's Pick."   (Photo: DTE Executive Director Martha Bowers, Green-Wood President Richard J. Moylan, and M.A.S. Award Committee Member, Alison Tocci- Photo by Jeff Richman).

We need to raise $5,000 in individual contributions to ensure that this final staging retains all the magic of past productions. If you value the kinds of performance events that only DTE produces, keep them coming back! Every dollar helps, so donate whatever you can.  We set up a Kickstarter campaign to make it easy for you- just follow the link, below, and pick out the level of support (and cool accompanying reward!) that's right for you.
