Dear BUMC Family,

Greetings on this rainy spring day. I am thoroughly enjoying this week’s warm weather.  As I drive around for my pastoral work, I am noticing that trees are covered with full green leaves.  The green color of this season energizes my spirit, I hope it is blessing you as well.

Last Sunday we had beautiful worship services to honor all of our mothers.  Our Festive Ringers, Cherub Choir, Lyric Choir, Sanctuary Choir and Foundation Praise Band blessed us with wonder-full music.  Kathy Schulz and Pat Bodden shared their inspiring message “Transformed” based on their United Methodist Women’s mission experience.

This week we had two sending off services of beloved members of our church, Doris Reindel and Herb Melbourn.  Doris Reindel, one of our treasured founding members, served church and community faithfully for many years.  Herb Melbourn, a gifted musician, a retired pilot, and a member of our Sanctuary Choir, inspired many with his outstanding leadership and generosity.  We’ll miss you.  May God bless your souls!

The Greater New Jersey Annual Conference session will meet from this Sunday through Tuesday next week at the Wildwoods Convention Center in NJ.  This is an annual meeting of all pastors and lay representatives from all of our 600+ congregations in our greater NJ area.  From our church Rev. Laura, Rev. June, Don Schulz, Christine Dombrowski, Mary Beth Gruber and I will be attending on your behalf.

The chosen theme for this year’s gathering is Miracles Everywhere.  We will hear some of the innovative new ministry initiatives, receive reports from various entities of the Conference, make important decisions, approve the budget, and elect officers and leaders. BUMC will receive a new associate pastor of Next Generation Ministry, Rev. Mary Kathryn Allen, and Rev. Laura will be appointed to Hopewell UMC.

One important event is the ordination of new clergy.  Our own Rev. June Tamburro will be ordained as a new Deacon in full connection by Bishop Schol at this ordination service.  Rev. June has worked very hard to pass the examination for ordination, and the Conference Board of Ordained Ministry is now blessing her with its approval and affirmation.  Congratulations to Rev. June Tamburro!

The Midweek Service will be held this evening at 7pm and Pat Bodden will bring her devotion.  Please come to the service and encourage Pat in person.  This Saturday, BUMC Children and Families Ministry will have a Meet and Greet Party from 4-6pm.

On this coming Sunday, as Rev. June and I prepare for the ordination service at the GNJ Annual Conference, Rev. Laura will bring her message on Pentecost Sunday. So, please come and hear her message and support her with your presence and prayers.

Have a blessed week and weekend.  See you in church.

Rev. Jennifer

This Week’s Scripture: Acts 2:1-4

When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.  Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
