April is Poetry Month

Celebrate Poetry Month with DSCL!

DSCL is hosting a Poetry Night on Thursday, April 12th at 5-7:30pm. Learn how to create black-out poetry with book pages and have the opportunity to share your work or writing at our open mic!

National Library Week is April 8th-14th

The 2018 National Library Week theme is "Libraries Lead". Celebrate with us all the ways libraries lead by providing educational resources to the community!

April 15th-21st is Volunteer Appreciation Week

The library is thankful for all of the time and talent our volunteers share with the library. In 2017, our volunteers logged 3,680 hours of service. They assist with book clubs, knitting, chess, and Mah-Jongg groups, shelving, story time and more! We rely on and appreciate our library volunteers all year long!

Baby Chicks to Hatch at the Library!


Look for the appearance of an incubator filled with eggs. We will watch and wait together during the 21 day incubation period for chickens. These will hatch into baby Silkie chicks.

Wild Wolverines at the Alaska Zoo!

Go Wild for Wolverines on Thursday, April 26th at 4:30pm!

baby wolverine 2Wild Wolverines! Come with us on a live, interactive, virtual field to the Alaska Zoo for an up close encounter with wolverines. Learn how these giant weasels endure the arctic cold, discover their habits and what makes them such successful predators. These unique arctic animals are sure to make you "wild about wolverines"!

A Call for Volunteers!

If you share a passion for our community library and its programs and wish to promote the public use of the library, foster an appreciation of the library's cultural and educational value to the community, encourage and support improvement of the library's resources and services, and would like to volunteer your time and talent to an awesome group of bookworms, then the FRIENDS of the DS Community Library wants you.

A Call for Cookbooks!

Do you have gently used cookbooks collecting dust in your kitchen pantry? Don't need your printed cookbooks on your counter anymore? The FRIENDS volunteers are collecting cookbooks for the next fundraising effort. Make space in your kitchen pantry or on your counter by donating your cookbooks to the FRIENDS. Drop off at the DS Community Library.

Dripping Springs Lions Club - Recycle for Sight

Give the gift of sight to a child in need.


Donate old glasses and prescription sunglasses to the Recycle for Sight box in the library. Thank you community for the many donations that you contributed!

Dripping Springs Helping Hands

Thank you for continuing to fill the donation box!

helping hands logoYou can drop off non-perishable food items like canned fruit, ramen noodles, crackers and small bags of rice and beans to the donation box during regular library hours.

Libraries Rock This Summer!

Summer reading plans and special summer programing are now being finalized!

q_book_slogan_coloredWe are excited about the opportunities that will be available for our members of all ages. In keeping with the Libraries Rock theme, there will certainly be music and even some rocks of the geological kind, plus so much more. Watch for the May 1st launch of the 2018 summer calendar and the May 7th opening of registration for the June and July special programs. Tracking summer reading is undergoing revision also. Watch for any new directions for your age group.
