Are you still paying for eBooks and eAudio Books? We hope not!

overdriveDSCL members have access to eBooks and eAudio Books through Overdrive. This online resource is available on your desktop, or as an app on your mobile device! You have access to thousands of titles through the Overdrive. See a title that says Overdrive Advantage? The "Advantage" means it is only available to DSCL members - more access for you!

What's New at the Library?

DSCL has been awarded a Texas Book Festival Grant for $1,500 to purchase eBook titles for our Overdrive Advantage collection, which means they will only be available for DSCL members!

Did You Know?

DSCL has a self check-out located by the front door. If you have 5 items or fewer, NO DVD's, have your library card or know your card number, you can avoid the lines at the front desk!

  1. checkout1 2First, scan your card or type in your card number. Make sure that your account pulls up on the screen.
  2. Next, scan the item's DSCL barcode you would like to check out. Remember, NO DVD's! Make sure everything you scan shows up on the check-out screen.
  3. Then, if you need to renew any books you have out, scan the "Renew All Items" barcode, or the "Renew Overdue" barcode.
  4. To complete your check-out, scan the "Finish" barcode. Don't forget your receipt!

Riders on the Orphan Train, Thursday, May 10th at 4:30pm

You will not want to miss this incredible multi-media presentation about the Riders on the Orphan Trains.

TrainAbout 250,000 orphans and surrendered children were put on trains in New York between 1854 and 1929. The children were sent all over the United States, with an estimated 5,000 children who came to Texas, and the last train came to Sulphur Springs in 1929. Presented by Alison Moore and Phil Lancaster with original music as well as a dramatic recitation from the new novel "Riders on the Orphan Train" by Alison Moore. History buffs of all ages are invited to attend.
This program was made possible in part with a grant from Humanities Texas, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.

War Memorial Exhibit, Saturday, May 12th, 2-4:30pm

In honor of Memorial Day and Hays County locals who died in service from World War I to the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts, we have created a walk-through exhibit in our meeting room.

War memorialOur  War Memorial Exhibit will include information on those from Hays County who died in service, as well as those who have passed since the war.  We will also have memorabilia from World War II provided by staff and the Texas Military Forces Museum.

Special thank you to the DS American Legion Post 290, the DS VFW  Post 2933, and the Texas Military Forces Museum for providing material and information.

Peep, Peep, and the Sound of Little Feet!

Our chicken eggs in the Children's Wing are scheduled to hatch sometime between May 8th and May 10th!


Be on the look-out for our little baby chicks to hatch! Follow us on Facebook to see pictures and video of the chicks once they hatch.

Fine Forgiveness, May 14th - 26th

You forget, we forgive!

Fine forgiveness is a great way to start your summer off right. From May 14th -26th only, all fines will be forgiven. Book replacement costs will be cut in half. Present your library card at the Front Desk for assistance with your account.

Want to Avoid Late Fees?

It's easy to renew your items and avoid late fees!

As long as your account is up to date, you have $5 or less in fines, and there is not a reserve on an item, you can renew it! To renew, you can login to your account on our website, call the library, stop by the front desk, or you can even renew your checked out items at our self check-out by the front door. You can renew an item up to 5 times.

The Founders Day Festival Spring Raffle has been launched!

FriendslogoThe FRIENDS of the Dripping Springs Community Library were back at the Founders Day Festival over the weekend. It is always a pleasure to share tent space next to our favorite people in Drip, our librarians! You can count on great stories and fun times when a librarian is around.

The FRIENDS also launched our Founders Day Festival Spring Raffle to raise funds for our beloved library. This year you have a choice of winning one in four raffle prizes OR all four! Yes, you read that right. You can purchase one ticket for each of the four prizes or several tickets for one! Are you feeling lucky? You are! The funds raised go directly to the library for additional resources to be used by all community members.

Here's what you will win:

  • Spa Basket valued at $216
  • Tickled Pink Tea Party valued at $75

Tickets are only $5 each or 5 for $20! Check out the prizes in person at the Dripping Springs Community Library checkout counter. Drawing is May 9th, just in time for Mother's Day!

Dripping Springs Lions Club - Recycle for Sight

Give the gift of sight to a child in need.


Donate old glasses and prescription sunglasses to the Recycle for Sight box in the library. Thank you community for the many donations that you have contributed!

Dripping Springs Helping Hands

Thank you for continuing to fill the donation box!

Libraries Rock This Summer!

The Summer Schedule will be released May 1st! Registration for all events opens May 7th!

q_book_slogan_coloredWe are excited about the opportunities that will be available for our members of all ages. In keeping with the Libraries Rock theme, there will certainly be music and even some rocks of the geological kind, plus so much more. Watch for the May 1st launch of the 2018 summer calendar and the May 7th opening of registration for the June and July special programs. Summer reading clubs for all ages begins June 7th. Register online beginning June 7th to participate - more details to come!

make a differenceThe library needs Teen Reading Buddies for our program this summer. Teens are paired with their little buddy each Monday for a scheduled time of encouragement for the young reader.

If you want to be involved in this great program or to assist with summer programs, the reading log station, and shelving, please stop by the library or go online to fill out the teen volunteer application.
