Researchers say they have developed a method of using bacteria to
convert decaying grass directly into a compound known as isobutanol, which can
be burned in regular car engines with a heat value higher than ethanol
but similar to gasoline. The research could mean great savings in processing costs and time,

ETHANOL PRODUCTION HITS RECORD; HAS DEMAND PLATEAUED?

Production for U.S. ethanol hit a record in 2010, according to an
industry report. But more growth may have to wait for demand to catch up. Ethanol producers generated 13.23 billion gallons last year,
according to the Renewable Fuels Association. That's up 23 percent from
10.75 billion gallons produced in 2009. That represents about 10 percent of all gasoline production, which

AIRPORT TESTS CNG-POWERED BUS Source: The Burbank Leader Testing is underway at Bob Hope Airport that could spell the end of the
facility’s diesel-powered bus fleet. The test involves a bus that is
fueled by compressed natural gas. If the test is successful, airport
