powitanie przyjaciółmi.
that says "hello friends" for the wee handful of you non-polish speakers.
we come to your inbox today with splendid news. on october 4 dixon place will present our newest piece, don't call me mcneill. we have been toiling away on this beaut for months now. the piece is about cultural identity and how your last name can deem you part of a culture you may actually know nothing about. for example. someone named szeglowski tried her first pierogi at age 28 after being dragged to greenpoint by a half-korean person named chyun. the piece also includes interviews with real life people sharing their phonetic routines, i.e. how they spell out their name for stupid people. mcneill features music by a west coast dj digital savant known as the polish ambassador. we consider him a genius. here's a worthier description of the piece.
another reason this piece is brilliant: it has five dancers. in addition to the cake regulars elle, jeso, amanda and frequent guest supernova DThom, we have a new addition to the dance masters of the universe club, amy moore.
but let's not get carried away. in order to make this piece happen we need to raise one thousand big ones, fast. according to our calculations this is totally possible considering a. you actually know us b. you actually like us c. you are employed or are a government beneficiary, the heir to the silly bandz fortune, or you invented post-its d. you're vain enough to value your name on our donor page.
if we could actually make out the audience's faces amid the blinding lights of the stage, we'd wish they were yours. but if for some unforeseen reason you can't make it to the show, say perhaps an earthquake or hurricane delays you, please donate your ticket fare. it's for a damn good cause. then you could say you made a disaster relief contribution on your taxes. just don't mention our name.
click here to help us materialize our castles in the air or have your boss make out your next paycheck to "fractured atlas" then mail it to amanda szeglowski, 11-15 w. 123rd st. #5a, ny ny 10027 with memo "for the princesses of cakeface."
the people of poland thank you.
