A Once in a Lifetime, I hope, event occurred this morning. On 610 West Loop Freeway, between Woodway and Memorial heading south toward US 59 to the Museum District, our car gave a strange alert, panel flashing, instructing “turn off engine immediately, over heated.” We managed to maneuver quickly three lanes off freeway into the extreme right turning lane on feeder for Woodway, parked in a incredible situation, thousands of vehicles, constantly bearing down on us, some of the five million inhabitants from our wonderful Metroplex! We quickly vacated our car, Bill barely accessed the office to order a Tow Truck, hearing was almost impossible. I took my Czech Center Museum Houston black bag for my right shoulder; I flagged vehicles from several lanes blocks away to move one lane over, not ours, (otherwise I would not be writing this) for one hour forty five minutes in a blazing sun before our tow truck arrived (from Katy)! Two blaring fire trucks came, Sky Eye was flying overhead. I thought, “Wow, they are helping us.” I had no idea a grave accident had occurred above on the freeway which by then was totally stopped heading south. The good news was it was only a water pump. The best news is: “Life is so good!” The moral of the event, one should quickly set emergency flashers, get out even quicker and go farther away from site taking your purse!!! The Latest Round of Inscriptions has been etched and gilded on the marble tiles in the Czech Center Museum Houston’s Courtyard Honor and Memorial Wall. The already etched tiles will be regilded and after completion should be an awesome site to view. If you have not made a contribution to secure one of these beautiful etchings we will be glad to take your order to the next round. It’s fun to listen to visitors pointing out relatives or friends or just interest.
Great News!! As of August 1, 2010, we, CCMH, are finally on City of Houston street signs with the City’s other great Museums for which we are so grateful and so proud. The first visitor in the next day stated: “I had no idea you were in Houston, I saw you on a sign.” Happiness!
Warmest regards, stay cool,
