Green Spine stage one open!

The transformation of the Malop Street Green Spine is finished and has reopened a week ahead of schedule.

The extensive redevelopment includes a spectacular eight metre-wide botanic walk on the south side of the street, complemented by more trees and plantings on the north side, separated bike lanes on each side and a complete rebuilding of the roadway.

The $8 million stage one of the Green Spine is a key project in the 10-year Revitalising Central Geelong Action Plan, implementation of which is a G21 Priority Project.

It is one of a significant number of current and completed projects to transform central Geelong including the Laneways Project, the Johnstone Park Raingarden and the Little Malop Street Bridge.

To celebrate completion of stage one, ‘GEE-Longest Kick on the Green Spine’ will be held on Sunday August 12.
