Shipwreck Coast delegation to Canberra

On 27 March, a delegation of local leaders, including G21 CEO Elaine Carbines, headed to Canberra to lobby the federal government to invest millions of dollars into the Shipwreck Coast.

The group, which met with ministers, shadow ministers and department officials, made the trip to explain the challenges facing the Shipwreck Coast and promote opportunities for $152 million of joint federal and state government funding in key region-building projects detailed in the Shipwreck Coast Master Plan.

A $3 million refurbishment to the Barwon Multi-Disciplinary Centre will give family violence victims across the G21 region better access to a professional and compassionate response in one location.

Construction has commenced at Armstrong Creek’s first sports pavilion.

The Armstrong Creek East Precinct sporting reserve will support netball, football, soccer and cricket in this rapidly growing community.

A new $2 million synthetic soccer pitch at Norlane's Leisuretime Centre has officially opened.

This was a G21 Priority under the Addressing Disadvantage project, and recognises that upgraded facilities can keep a community healthy and active.

Lorne will proudly host the Australian Indigenous Tourism Conference later this year.

On 17 November, successful projects in Round One of the $50 million Smart Cities and Suburbs Program were announced. There were two successful applicants from the BSW region.

Regional Growth Fund (reminder)

Do you know any major transformational projects seeking funding in your region? The Regional Growth Fund will provide grants of $10 million or more for major transformational projects that support long-term economic growth and create jobs in regions undergoing structural adjustment.
