Executive Director Nikki Henderson Speaks at  Launch of W. K. Kellogg Foundation's America Healing Initiative in Washington, DC

4598308299_caef593b9e_mLast week, Nikki Henderson represented People's Grocery as a speaker at the unveiling of the W. K. Kellogg Foundation's America Healing Initiative.
People's Grocery was awarded a $10,000 grant to continue and strengthen our work in West Oakland and to support Community HANDS, our program connecting trained community members with opportunities to share nutritional information and cooking demonstrations with other West Oakland residents and organizations.

We're grateful for the support of donors and foundations who continue to recognize the need for a secure and just food system.  We were also happy to see that the W.K. Kellogg Foundation awarded grants to Oakland's Causa Justa :: Just Cause and Insight Center for Community and Economic Development.

The mission of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation is to help communities create conditions that propel vulnerable children to success as individuals and as contributors to the larger community and society.
