Greetings Wine Lovers,

Another year has come and gone. What a year it's been. In no particular order, here goes. Right after harvest winery dog Lyla got a new playmate when we adopted puppy Pella from the Healdsburg Animal Shelter. “Good dog, Pella. Sit. Stay. Down! Don't chew on that!”

In other events, April saw the passing of beloved grandma Pauline Henderlong, matriarch to the vineyard. Born in Healdsburg when most vineyards were prune orchards, she saw lots of changes throughout her long life. We are grateful to be able to continue to care for the land with our cousins the Saini Family using environmentally friendly methods in the vineyard and at the winery.

On a beautiful day in July, younger brother Sam married his sweetheart Stef in a small ceremony at the winery. The newlyweds have relocated from Chicago to the Bay Area, increasing Team Nalle's numbers.

The 2011 Harvest was a drawn-out success. We made rosé for the first time in six years (more on that later). In November, we celebrated the first year of our Squirrel Club with a gathering at the winery.  As we already knew, those squirrels are wonderful conversationalists who really know their wines. In addition, they are an inclusive bunch, so it was agreed to open up the wine club to a few more new members this year. Members get 20% off all wine purchases, plus free tastings, parties, and guaranteed fun times, of course. You can sign up using the order form or on our website.

Speaking of our website, have you been there lately? We are always putting up new pictures and news about the winery. It's fun. Check it out: NalleWinery.com

There you have it. We continue to make the same elegant, expressive wines with the same methods we’ve always used. Sometimes people take notice. Like this January, when Doug brought down the house at the ZAP panel on “lower-alcohol” Zin, or when we got a rush of good press this winter that caused us to sell out of our Pinot Noir and get down to the last few cases of Zinfandel and Chardonnay.

Now, as the puppy continues to chew everything from Andrew’s precious F150 to the family deck, we’d like to introduce a round of wines that continue in the Nalle tradition. And yes, Doug “American Hero” Nalle (to borrow a phrase from our friend Dan Berger) had his stamp on these wines as well. When these 2010s were just babies the Giants were winning the World Series. If only we could throw out the first bottle.

Game on!!

Andrew, Steph, Doug, Lee, Lyla, Pella, Squeaky aka Shorty
and the extended Nalle Family
