UCLA Takes on Education Equality

UCLA students kicked off their first "Academic Inequity Awareness Week" with a TEACHED Vol. 1 screening and much provocative discussion. The night featured a keynote address by education leader Kevin Chavous and panel including L.A. teacher Pearl Arredondo, TEACHED Producer/Director Kelly Amis, and local parent Korey Barney. Stay tuned for video from this inspiring event.

Meet the Statistics

While the education debates rage in the media and living rooms everywhere, real people struggle with the impact of a school system that works for some but not for them. In Meet the Statistics, read about the motivation behind TEACHED and watch interview clips with former gang-member and South Central parent Korey Barney. For more of Kelly's writing, be sure to follow her blog.

Welcome Ashley Johnson!

New TEACHED mascots
We have a new team member on board at TEACHED: Ashley Johnson, our new Executive Assistant, is a graduate of New York University where she double majored in Journalism and Sociology. Based in Harlem, Ashley will help grow TEACHED's East Coast presence and make sure our schedules and events run smoothly. Ashley has an interest in film and a strong commitment to improving the educational choices of minority students (she's also an animal-lover who recently adopted two new pups, so we love her already. Congrats Ashley!) And welcome.
