Spain and Italy Struggle in Q411 LCD Channel Sales
13th January 2012 (London, UK): Latest Western European Distribution unit sales data from CONTEXT shows the LCD Displays market for the final quarter of 2011 has contracted by -5.6% on a year-on-year basis. This contraction has been caused primarily by Spain, which registered a dramatic -37.7% drop and also by Italy contracting by -7.6% in Q411 vs. the same prior-year period. Meanwhile the largest market, Germany, has maintained a consistent level of sales, while the UK and France recorded growth rates of +1.2% and +10.4% in their respective markets.
Revenues have similarly dropped across Western European Distribution going down by -8.3% in Q411 vs. last year. The catalyst of this was a drop in ASPs of -2.8%. Spain and Italy revealed substantial revenue declines, whereas the UK and Germany were only slightly in the red. Meanwhile France, which had positive unit growth of 10.4%, achieved this on the back of a -10.9% drop in pricing, resulting in revenues showing a decline of -1.6% for the country overall.
