FLORENCE, S.C. — July 14, 2010 — Team Full Throttle (TFT) driver, Brad Berg, had a very solid opening race in the inaugural Southeast Limited Late Model Series on July 4, only to have it cut short following radiator damage to his No. 4 Orion Motorsports car on lap 75. Berg finished the race in the 15th spot.
“I have not raced a late model since August of 2009, so I knew going into this weekend that I was going to have to reacquaint myself with everything as quickly as possible,” said Berg. “I was really glad to have the practice on Saturday and felt we made some good ground with the car. It was my first time ever on sticker tires and my first 100 lap race. I learned a lot all weekend and I’m ready to put all of it to use in my next race.”
Berg qualified in 15th and was fast at the beginning of the feature.
“The car started out a little tight on Saturday but my crew from Orion Motorsports got it handling pretty good for qualifying,” said Berg. “At the beginning of the race we had a really fast car and I was just trying to let things settle in before really getting after it. Unfortunately, others didn’t have the same idea and we got caught up in some wrecks. That altered the handling of the car so we fought that for a good portion of the race. Eventually, we had to come in after the radiator came loose.”
The No. 4 driver was credited with a 15th place finish.
“I would really like to thank Ed Cox and his entire Orion Motorsports crew for their hard work in the shop getting my car ready and for working so hard at the track as well,” said Berg. “I had a lot of fun and I’m looking forward to the next series race with them.”
Berg will run again in the Southeast Limited Late Model Series on September 17 at Ace Speedway in N.C.
