Are you free Friday morning? If so, grab your camera and a cup of coffee. It's the last of this year's winter King Tides, and we need photos! ![]() One last reminder — Friday morning is the third and final day of this winter's King Tides. The highest tide of the year, King Tides are a carefully watched preview of rising sea levels. 2011's high tides are future normal tides, and photographs are useful for planning and creating public awareness. (For more technical context, please see our press release and visit California Coastkeeper.) Friday's high tide will be at 8:47am. Based on Thursday, the tides should be most instructive (and photogenic) from about 7-10. You can send your photos to us by reply to this email, or (better yet) by joining and adding them to our Flickr Group, where you can see some of Thursday's photos. ![]() Source. Many of today's most powerful photos were of the houses along the shoreline in Malibu. We're also interested in other infrastructure close to the shore across Santa Monica Bay, and of normal beach life during these high tides. But keep in mind that high tides aren't easily discerned against large piers and wide beaches. ![]() For more information, and especially if you're in another part of California, please visit California Coastkeeper. News articles are also posted at the Santa Monica Baykeeper home page. Thank you for supporting Santa Monica Baykeeper! ![]() |
