The sponsorship will allow UPS to become one of the many storefront businesses housed there. The program teaches students the basics of economics, capitalism and business through a six-week curriculum that culminates with a full day at the village. Fifth graders who apply to work for UPS will be given brown UPS uniforms and a brown cart to deliver products to and from the different company stores. There are plans to develop a UPS Store as well.
“We are extremely pleased to welcome this world renowned commerce corporation into Enterprise Village and believe they will fit perfectly within our microcosm of today’s business world,” Terry Boehm, president of the Pinellas Education Foundation stated.
In 2010, The UPS Foundation distributed more than $44.6 million worldwide through grants that benefit organizations or programs such as the Pinellas Education Foundation and provide support for building stronger communities.
“The UPS Foundation is committed to funding impactful programs that make a meaningful difference in our communities – so we are proud to support The Pinellas Education Foundation’s efforts to teach children free enterprise,” said Ken Sternad, president of The UPS Foundation.

Connecting with Doorways Alumni
In an effort to connect and network with students who have graduated with a Doorways/TSIC scholarship, the Pinellas Education Foundation held an inaugural Doorways Scholarship Alumni Social on June 29, 2011 at Courtside Grille in St. Petersburg.
The intent of the social was to introduce students to the newly formed Alumni Group led by former Doorways students Johnny Boykins and Laisha Daley and to raise awareness about the purpose of giving back through volunteering, mentoring, advocacy and sponsorship.
Seventeen alumni attended and were very pleased with how the event turned out. In fact, as a result of the event, three alumni began the process of becoming a volunteer and/or mentor. We're looking forward to continuing this outreach and thank all those who are involved. The next alumni event will be held at the August 27th Clearwater Threshers game. For more information, please contact Kimberly Paine at Kimberly.Paine@pinellaseducation.org ,..

Because of the generosity of the employees of the City of St. Petersburg, 15 students will receive a Doorways Scholarship this year through the Mayor’s Mentors & More program. It's an amazing gift that will affect the lives of these students and their families for years to come. Thank you City of St. Pete! We're proud to partner with you!
