Great news from TheFind!


TheFind is proud to announce the launch of Glimpse, a Facebook Open Graph shopping experience helping users find new and trending products from the brands and stores the they like. Glimpse enables you to to shop with your friends by sharing your taste and style!


Glimpse works by harnessing the Facebook LIKE buttons that you already have on your product pages and combining these with your product feeds. We estimate that 140 million product pages now have LIKE buttons, and shoppers are definitely using them! In 4Q 2011, less than 2 million products had at least one LIKE - already that number has grown to 5.6 million. Over a third of the products that people LIKE are in fashion categories.


Where do you go to check out Glimpse?


You can sign on to Glimpse via Facebook at http://apps.facebook.com/thefind/glimpse to check out the top Liked items from brands and products your carry, and check out other stores carrying them too! For shoppers and retailers, Glimpse is a great way to see what's trending. We are sure you'll find Glimpse is a great resource as we head towards Back to School, new fall fashions, and the holiday shopping season.

 

We encourage you to try out Glimpse now. If your store has Facebook LIKE buttons on your product pages, check to see if your store is on Glimpse already (see screen shot below). If you don't have LIKE buttons up yet, don't worry as we are adding stores to Glimpse regularly -  follow step #3 (below) to give us more info on your store and help with this.

How do you use Glimpse to promote your store?

It's easy - make sure you follow these three steps:

  1. Make sure that the Facebook Like LIKE button is integrated on your product pages.
  2. Make sure you tag these LIKE buttons with the product tag as specified by Facebook here: http://developers.facebook.com/docs/opengraphprotocol/#types
  3. Log into our Merchant Center at (http://merchant.thefind.com) to add entries for (a) the social plugins on your product pages (LIKE, TWEET, PIN, G+, others) and (b) the social pages you have set up for your store on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube and Tumblr (see image below).
  4. Start submitting a product feed with a direct_url field – this should contain your clean URL (original URL), free of tracking, and is only used to pick up your social data (ex: LIKE button information). It is *not* used for the website or click outs by consumers.  Our updated product feed spec provides more information on this field.
