Attention young and old bakers! There will be a bake off at the parish picnic on September 13th. MAN'S SEARCH FOR MEANING
As mentioned in my sermon last week, I commend Viktor Frankl’s book, Man’s Search for Meaning. Frankl was an Austrian Neurologist and Psychiatrist of Jewish heritage who was arrested and spent several years in concentration camps during WWII.
In the first half of this book Frankl offers a rather grim reflection on his time in the concentration camps, and why he believed he was able to survive while so many others did not. In the second half he develops his theory (which he calls logotherapy) that states his belief that a person’s fundamental drive in life is to find meaning.
This theory, which directly challenged the then prevalent theories, gained a wide following, so much so that 12 million copies of Man’s Search for Meaning have been published.
ADOPT-A-STUDENT/FOOD BANK BACKPACK PROGRAM
Thanks to all who gave generously of their time, energy, and resources to help Immanuel’s outreach ministry reach out to at-risk students to fight hunger and meet school supply needs. Here we glimpse a family's delight in receiving these gifts.
