Happy 2016!

From our Artistic Director:

Happy New Year!

Here at the School we ended 2015 on a high, with the success of our winter production, IMPULSE; students from all three years of our Professional Training Program performed new choreography and revered repertory, which was well received by audiences during the two-week run. We also wrapped up another great term of the Young Dancers’ Program with an informal showing and celebration of their incredible joy of moving.

The New Year has barely begun and already we’ve kicked off the new terms for YDP and our Fundamentals of Dance courses. Our 2nd year PTP class gave a strong performance at Dance Ontario Dance Weekend'16 with Gadfly Dance. Now we’re looking forward to our upcoming audition on January 31st and to meeting potential new students for the fall of 2016.

Students at the School come from across the country and around the world.  Approximately 16% of our student body is international. We are very proud of these dancers and pleased to introduce them to you in this edition of our e-newsletter. Additionally we’re delighted to feature the stunning Megumi Kokoba, 2012 graduate and company member of Toronto Dance Theatre, originally from Okinawa-shi, Japan. Of her time at the School Megumi said, “This program completely prepares you for the professional world and beyond. It will ignite a passion for learning that you can carry with you throughout your career”.

I hope you enjoy reading about our international students and alumni and, on behalf of all of us at the School, I wish you the very best for 2016.
