Look Right Through Me

FINAL LRTM Image cropped 3Look Right Through Me tells the simple story of a young man who has lost his way. After a long night he wakes up to find himself in an unfamiliar setting, a broken and lost man. As he retraces his way home, chance meetings give him relief and cast a gentle light on the world to which, until now, he has been blind. Each moment of human connection, be it an outstretched hand or a clenched fist, informs every act for his survival.

Conceived and Directed by Kate Denborough
Creative Collaborator: Michael Leunig
Composer: Jethro Woodward
Set and Costume Design: Julie Renton
Lighting Designer: Rachel Burke

Co-devised and Performed by: Craig Bary, Fiona Cameron, Timothy Ohl, Cain Thompson and Gerard Van Dyck

Thanks also to Kristina Chan, Adam Haddow, Sarah-Jayne Howard, Maryanne Lynch, Luke Smiles and Paul White for their involvement in the initial development stage of this work.

Michael Leunig Collaboration

Give us music when we expect trouble.
Give us tears when we expect breakfast.
Give us dreams when we expect a storm.

Give us a stray dog when we expect congratulations.

Michael Leunig is an Australian poet, artist and philosopher whose instantly recognisable cartoons hold a particular place in the hearts of readers. Now, for the first time, his unmistakable take on the world will be transformed into a living, breathing, three dimensional experience. In this world premiere production, Look Right Through Me dances the delicate line between brittle whimsy and soul-searching angst, maintaining a lightness of touch while nudging at Leunig's own irrepressible humanism; a willingness to face life without defences, with all it deadly, delirious wonder.
