Heroes, Gods & Mortals

For the last couple of weeks, we’ve been spending our time in the company of the gods and heroes of the ancient world, as we rehearse for our season finale, May 12 and 13. We can’t wait to share them with you!

In true Talisker fashion, Heroes, Gods & Mortals includes an eclectic mix of music, from Pergolesi’s ravishing Orfeo to the premiere of Monica Pearce’s seductive new piece, Leda Songs. In between, we include excerpts from Joaquin Turina’s Las Musas de Andalucia, with its haunting flamenco flavours, and four songs from Kurt Weill’s Broadway musical, One Touch of Venus, in arrangements by Laura Jones.

Performances are Tuesday and Wednesday, May 12 and 13, 8PM at Trinity St. Paul’s Centre. Don't delay! Tickets are still available through U of T tix: Call 416-978-8849 or click here

Those who remember Carla Huhtanen’s captivating performance with us in the spring of 2013 will understand why we are so thrilled to be working with her again on this programme. Andrea Ludwig will be appearing with us for the first time – a collaboration which we feel is long overdue. Click on the images on the left to learn more about these brilliant artists.

There is lots of information on our own website as well. Programme notes are now up (click here). We have  also added some audio links (here) to give you a taste of what’s in store.

You can play a part!

Heroes, Gods & Mortals  brings another successful season to an end. It has been a banner year, and we feel we have much to be proud of.
