I want to share with you some exciting news from Boys Farm: we’re well underway to having a cabin retreat here at our very own pond! Even in difficult financial times, we have been amazed at the generosity of so many people. We have truly seen God’s faithfulness and are trusting in His timing.
Kevin Meetze, president of the Meetze Plumbing Company in Columbia, came to us with this vision last year after God had placed the burden upon his heart. We are so excited to see the progress thus far and eagerly look forward to when we can use the cabin for meeting some great needs for our ministry. The purpose of building this pond house is three-fold:
1. To serve as a haven for boy’s mothers to come visit their sons for a weekend on Boys Farm’s land. They can get away from the difficult environment they may be facing and enjoy fellowship in the safety and serenity of our cabin in the woods.
2. To be a retreat for houseparents to rest and re-energize in order to better minister to the needs of our children in addition to serving as a guest house.
3. To have a place for the boys to experience God’s creation in a carefree environment during childhood. They can fish, swim, canoe, walk through the woods, and enjoy memorable weekends at the new cabin. They can just be boys.
Kevin has really done a wonderful job leading this project in every last detail. Many churches, companies, and volunteers have already become involved. If you can help, we still need materials, services, and especially monetary donations for this project. We are just $9,500 short in the final stretch of seeing this vision become reality! If you can help, please contact me (803-276-5910) or Kevin (cell 803-600-5178).
