Understanding Immigration Issues and Moving Forward
CJ’s December Workshop "Understanding Immigration Issues and Moving Forward" provided a review of the fall workshop series on immigration and facilitated a discussion about how our community can best support local immigrant families.
You can view the presentation, which summarizes key points from the earlier fall workshops, and read the notes from the discussion about existing area services and the steps our network can take to improve outreach to families struggling through immigration issues.
You will also find several resources to support immigrant families in danger of being separated by detention or deportation on the Latino Parents and Children page on the CJ website.

Shattered Families: New Report on the Effects of Deportations on Children
The Applied Research Center (ARC) spent a year researching the effects of immigration enforcement on families and the complications the system imposes on family reunification.
ARC found that in the first six months of this year, the federal government removed more than 46,000 mothers and fathers of U.S. born children. As a consequence, at least 5,100 children of deported immigrants are currently living in foster care. You can read the full Shattered Families report online.
