NEW HOPE FOR AFRICA

Kenneth Kayizzi 2

In 2007, Gospel Outbound partnered with New Hope for Africa, an orphanage ministering to more than 300 children, many of whom actually live on the premises. Since that time, GO has been assisting New Hope in giving these young ones a new start….food, shelter, Christian schooling and the love and support of onsite dorm mothers and fathers.

Meet one of the residents: Kenneth Kayizzi, who was born in the Mukono District. After losing his father at a very early age, Kenneth lived with his mother. But she fell very ill as well. He wandered his village in search of work, in an effort to support his dying mother. Eventually his mother handed Kenneth over to the tender arms of Annet Kayongo, founder and director of New Hope for Africa just before she passed away. Kenneth has settled in at New Hope and loves his studies and the Lord.

Religion that God our father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress…” (Jas. 1:2)

KABOWA WOMEN’S SAVINGS AND LOAN PROGRAM

Woman

Kabowa Redeemed Church, a partner of Gospel Outbound, continues its in-house micro-finance organization. The financing of small businesses allows these women to pull themselves up from dire poverty and begin new lives in which they are beginning to pay for homes…feed families…send their children to school…support the church.

Elizabeth Nasiwa’s story is yet another in the success of this program: “When I received the first Ushs, 40,000 ($20), I rented a shop, started a salon with a few hair oils and began plating women’s hair. A second loan of Ushs. 200,000 ($100), allowed me to buy working instruments, hair weaves, braids and more. Later, I was able to borrow another Ushs. 400,000 ($200), and I installed electricity at my shop. This made my services more professional. I started saving and also made renovations to my shop to meet my clients’ needs. I was blessed to be able to afford a fourth loan of Ushs 500,00 ($250). I expanded my shop into a beauty parlor, supplying women’s beauty care products. I also opened up another salon, doing the same business.

When I came to Kabowa, I was single and jobless. I am now a successful business woman who fears God. My life has totally changed, and I am even able to help my family and friends. I feel useful. I see a bright future now."

UGANDAN MISSIONS MOVEMENT ASSOCIATION (UMMA) KICK-OFF CONFERENCE

UMMA Conference 3

Within Uganda, the church has been growing and evangelizing. And now, God is taking them to another step and is using Gospel Outbound to help them acquire vision and structures for a missionary sending movement. God says that his works will be revealed to the Muslim dominated countries to the north and He is raising up the workers in Uganda now who will go.

The recently formed UMMA has swollen to over 240 members (many of whom are senior pastors) in just a few short months. In conjunction with Gospel Outbound, UMMA hosted their formal kick-off conference. And, as you can see from the pictures, it was a huge success. Until now, few have expressed interest in missions. But the enthusiasm in the room was unmistakable.

GOSPEL OUTBOUND OPENS NEW OFFICE

Katushabe Fiona Lakor-Administrator 2

Can you believe it? Our new digs in Kampala, Uganda are bright and shiny and officially open for business….God’s business. His remarkable provisions in the form of location, size and budget are further evidence that the Lord is in the midst of the work so far. The space allows us to provide training to our missionary candidates to prepare them for the field. The office at the Namuli Complex underscores Gospel Outbound’s credibility in the region.
