REMEMBERING HELEN KASS
We are saddened by the death of Helen Kass who served on the exploratory committee whose efforts led to the formation of BrooklineCAN. Subsequently, Helen was one of the original members of the Steering committee and served continuously on the Education committee. We will remember Helen as an exceptionally thoughtful and supportive member who contributed a great deal to BrooklineCAN.

Brookline Interactive Group (BIG) is airing Episode 7 of the Age-Friendly Cities TV (AFC-TV) programs on local Brookline channels. The program will focus on Brookline parks with guest Erin Gallentine, Director of Parks and Open Space Division of the Department of Public Works. Director Gallentine, a leader in maintaining Brookline's part of the Emerald Necklace, will introduce the latest pearl in the portfolio of Brookline parks to be upgraded, Fisher Hill Reservoir Park. Recent projects and plans and for projects pending will also be reviewed. The Town priority is insuring that public parks be inclusive. If you or someone you know wants to work in spite of a disability, attend the panel discussion at the Senior Center on Wednesday July 13, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. This informative discussion includes a panel of hard-working people with disabilities and legal experts, who will consider challenges and solutions for those with disabling conditions. Panelists include Attorney Susan Howards; Ginny Mazur, Goddard House Community Partnership Director and deaf and hearing-impaired advocate; and representatives from Boston Center for Independent Living and Boston Commission for the Blind.

The event is free and open to the public. $5 admission fee will be charged at the door for people who do not register in advance. Contact Deidre Waxman, LICSW, at 617-730-2767, dwaxman@brooklinema.gov
