What We Say Yes To! - Reverend Donna Dolham

There are so many opportunities to say yes! to engaging in the life of DUUF. Please join us for this intergenerational stewardship kick-off Sunday as we explore what draws us to this community.

In our 9:30 and 11:30 am Explorer Classes

Nursery (infant to Pre-K): Infants and young children are invited to our nursery for a time of play, discovery, nurture, and connection. If you are visiting for the first time, feel free to arrive early to meet our nursery staff and to spend time in the room (classroom number 4) with your child.

Grades PreK-5th will participate in the intergenerational service.

From the Leadership

(Note: The following remarks are my personal opinions and do not reflect the opinions or the position of the Board of Trustees or of Denton Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.)

Dear members and friends,

As I listen to the news and look forward to the mid-term elections, I look back on my early working years. I remember working for an insurance company in the 1970’s that was installing a mainframe computer and sending employees to IBM for training. My supervisor denied my request to be part of this new team because only men were selected. Not being one to stir up trouble, I just quit that job and moved on.

Now, forty years later, I will not be silent. Certainly, job opportunities for women have changed but that is not enough. Many people continue to be directly or indirectly impacted by sexual assault. I am angry at the many politicians who are silent about the behavior of their colleagues. I am fearful when the President of the United States says that it is a scary time for young men, but women are doing great.

What am I called by my faith to do? I will vote. I will contact my government representatives, both local and national. I will be mindful about my own actions and speech. I will support the equitable treatment of all. I will join in fellowship with others about these issues, including taking part in gatherings like the one Rev. Donna organized last Sunday.

Most important, I will use the power of my anger and fear to motivate me to live the UU principles. I invite you to join me in living our Unitarian Universalist faith out in the world.

Love & peace,

Nancy Gaige
