UU R Creative at 9:30 am and 11:30 am

D. Scott Cooper returns to kick off our theme of CREATIVITY with “UU R Creative”. Creativity has been defined as “the ability to transcend traditional ideas and rules and to create meaningful new ideas and interpretations.” For centuries, UUs have realized we didn’t have to sign on with the majority view and have been creatively engaging religion, community and concepts of the Divine ever since! Join us to learn how we might continue this tradition of creativity.

In our 9:30 and 11:30 am Explorer Classes

Nursery (infant to Pre-K): Infants and young children are invited to our nursery for a time of play, discovery, nurture, and connection. If you are visiting for the first time, feel free to arrive early to meet our nursery staff and to spend time in the room (classroom number 4) with your child.

Grades PreK-1st: Students will explore Creativity! We will watch a video, use wooden blocks to solve problems creatively, and complete a maze.

Grades 2-5: Students will explore Creativity! We will hear a story, create glitter jars, and play a game. AJ earned 30 leadership points, so he gets to be the teacher for the day!

Between the services at 10:35 am - Congregational Meeting

This will be a full and important meeting -- please attend! We will be electing our 2018-19 Board of Trustees. But there is more! We will also affirm a new congregational covenant, hear from the endowment committee and elect a new trustee for that committee, receive financial and ministerial search updates, recognize some of our leaders, and vote on an important and exciting staffing change. To review the minutes from past congregational meetings, click here for December 3 or click here for March 25.

From Our Leadership

Join us this Sunday for a congregational meeting that will set the stage for the next church year.

Our Treasurer Hal Gibbons will present a year-end report for fiscal 2017 along with a report of our current financial position. Please follow this link to access the financial report documents prior to the meeting: https://www.dropbox.com/s/5r0jitnac478bh2/FY2017%20Year%20End%20Report.spub.pdf?dl=0

Past President Sunnie Palmer will present the slate of candidates for 2018-19. This year the leadership focus has been on making the best use of our collective knowledge. To that end, several leaders who might have rotated off the board have agreed to run for office again. Jason Galbraith has agreed to run for a second one-year term as trustee of the endowment committee. Hal Gibbons has agreed to run for a second two-year term as Treasurer to help the congregation maintain our financial stability. Lauren Coker will run for a second one-year term as Secretary. At this time, there is no candidate for the position of Vice President. If you are interested in learning more about this position, please contact Sunnie at pastpresident@dentonuuf.org.
