Dear Friend of Gabriel,
With winter officially behind us, we Stephen head shot 2at Gabriel are thankful for the Lord's provision for us and for the moms we served during those bleak, cold, months.

Spring brings with it the anticipation of warmer weather and a brighter outlook for the months ahead.
Speaking of the months ahead, our Twentieth Anniversary Gala is only 37 days away.
In addition to a delicious buffet dinner, the Gala will include inspiring messages from our Board of Directors and Church Coordinators, practical stories of how our Angel Friends share their love and concern for our moms, and heart-warming stories from our moms--past and present.
However, we'd be most honored and blessed if you could join us. Be sure to mark your calendars and join us for a joyous celebration of God's faithfulness to our ministry!

In His service,
Stephen J. Wallace
Executive Director

Mary C. ... what Angels do!
I have been an angel friend to Nan for almost two years. Now 18 years old, she has two children ages one and two.
My interaction with Nan was originally to provide practical items that any mother with babies needs. However, our relationship has become one of friendship and mentorship as I strive to see her reach her independence and work her way out of "the system."
My goals also include teaching her how to respect herself and "wait" until the Lord sends a man who truly loves her. With no male role model in her life, that concept has been hard for Nan to grasp. Our now close relationship has been built on trust, so much so that her children call me "grandma."
Often, as Angel Friends, we must help young moms like Nan to deal with the minutia of life that most of take for granted--like helping her obtain authentic photo identification.
Having accompanied Nan to the DMV to secure a driver's license, each time we refused and asked to return with a second form of address verification. Although this request sounds reasonable, her being less than 18 years of age made the verification process painful, with seemingly no real hope for quick resolution.

This is where Angel Friend creativity allows us to spread our wings and search for solutions. After sending Nan a postcard from me, which verified her address, we sought and received her voter registration. Problem solved. Fortunately, Nan had her original birth certificate and her social security card, or we would have had to file for those as well and delay the process even further.
Obtaining birth certificates and identification for the children was equally as frustrating. But at long last, all documentation is current and Nan has all the forms tucked safely away in a file folder I purchased for her.
With each passing day, I recognize Nan growing in ways that prove she is on her way to becoming a self-sufficient young mother. She is able to understand the responsibilities that come with motherhood and independent living.
Accomplishing these small tasks that most of us take for granted has been very rewarding for Nan.
Nan feels blessed to be my friend, something I don't take lightly. I, on the other hand, feel honored to be given the time, talent, and treasure to help meet Nan's needs at this critical time in her life. From my perspective, I am receiving more from her and her children than I could ever give.
If you are contemplating volunteering for an organization, I can assure you, you will not find a better way to serve the Lord than by becoming someone's Gabriel Network Angel Friend.

                                                                                        --Mary C.
Join us May 2 as we celebrate of twentieth year!
Plans are underway for our 10th annual Gala as we prepare to celebrate our twentieth year of service to women who may be homeless and pregnant and who have chosen life for their unborn child.
With your support, and that of generous sponsors, our goal is to raise $100,000 at this, our biggest fundraiser of the year. If we meet this goal, we will be able to:

    - Sustain all three of our maternity homes for another year.
    - Strengthen our Church Ministry Director's efforts to bring more dedicated
church volunteers into our network of service.

    - And, hire a day-time counselor and coordinator for our Bowie home.
    So, plan on joining us...
