SMART completes bond financing! Great news!
Join us to rally in San Rafael tomorrow, 12/21

Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition joins its co-members of the SMART Riders Coalition (a broad-based group formed in support of the Sonoma Marin Area Rail Transit [SMART)]Train & Pathway project) in a big round of applause: SMART has successfully completed $191 million in bond financing. The bond sale nets $171 million dollars – an excellent return -- in funding to build SMART’s initial operating segment from Santa Rosa to San Rafael. That means this wonderful Train & Pathway project is one step closer to becoming a reality we can all enjoy!

Cotati Win for Safety/Accessibility
Council votes to move forward with 2-lane plan.
Cotati City Council last Wednesday voted unanimously to adopt a plan for the northern gateway segment of Old Redwood Highway to create a bicycle/pedestrian friendly Complete Street.
The vote came at the end of a five-hour public hearing on whether the City should move forward with the 2-lane Village Main Street option, which City staff, Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition, and many others are confident will reduce traffic speeds, increase safety for all road users, and help retain the town's small-town character (all of these are very important to Cotati residents).
Read the Press Democrat's coverage here.
This project is visionary for Sonoma County and has a the potential to become a local model for effective Complete Streets designs that work for bicycles, cars, pedestrians, and transit.
Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition will continue to work on this project as the design is refined to make sure it works as well as possible for bicycles.
Let's celebrate this victory!
