In the Spotlight: Dance to the Music
As a finale to the Fall Quarter, the Tango Ensemble and Tango Dance class came together for an evening of live music and dance. Faculty Sonja Riket recounts the special evening here. It just may inspire an addition of Tango to that running list of 2016 new year resolutions.
Shenson Faculty Concert Series 2015-2016
Each year, The Shenson Foundation sponsors four free community concerts at CMC. The following faculty members and their ensembles were selected by a committee of musicians from CMC’s Board of Directors.
Congratulations to this year's selected faculty: Paul Dab, Jon Jang, Michael R. Jordin, and Abigail Shiman.
Read more about the recipients and their planned concert programs. Stay tuned concert dates!
A Student Story: Milo Starr Johnson
At CMC we believe that music changes lives everyday. We are continually amazed with the stories of our students and are honored to be part of their musical journey. Milo Johnson shares her story with us and how finding the right teacher really makes a difference. "Jono is the most generous teacher I've ever had" Milo says of CMC faculty Jono Kornfeld. Milo refers to herself as "musical Julia Child" because like Child she did not discover her true calling until middle age. Milo recently released her own album, The Perambulator (meaning “one who walks around”) which features piano and keyboards by Erik Ian Walker, instructor at the CMC Mission Branch, and other fine professional Bay Area musicians. Read more and be inspired by Milo's story.
