Community Music Center's Teen Jazz Orchestra is a tuition-free ensemble dedicated to performing the music of history's great jazz composers, as well as original compositions. The orchestra is led by composer, bassist, and teacher Marcus Shelby and studies the history and development of American music.

Sunday, January 11 was a beautiful day here on Capp Street! We had so much fun playing music together, singing and trying new instruments with CMC's faculty and Young Musicians Program students.

Jazz in the Neighborhood comes to CMC

darren-johnston-by-peter-varshavskyCMC has partnered with Jazz in the Neighborhood to present local performers and support their work mentoring young jazz musicians. This Friday, former CMC faculty member Darren Johnston's Wind Over Walls Quintet and 
Oakland Future Trio will perform at CMC.
