Monthly musical news from CMC!

Have you signed up for CMC's Field Day Performathon yet?

Field Day at CMC
Excitement is building for CMC's 95th birthday extravaganza and first-ever Performathon on November 20, Field Day at CMC. If you haven't signed up yet to perform and raise money for scholarships, now is the time to reserve your spot! You don't need to know what piece you'll play right away, you have until the final sign-up deadline: October 20.

Welcome new staff to CMC!

Maria CoraCMC is thrilled to have María Cora on staff as our new Older Adult Choir Coordinator. María is no stranger to CMC’s Older Adult Choir Program. Before joining us, she worked as a Clinical Research Coordinator Associate with the UCSF Institute for Health & Aging on the Community of Voices study. "I joined the Community of Voices team a few years ago because I agreed with the hypothesis of the study, that singing in community is beneficial to your health. [...] I got to see them get started, and I recruited in the different neighborhoods we work in. [...] To me, the fact that the senior centers and members all wanted the choirs to continue speaks volumes."

David Reffkin
Join us in welcoming David Reffkin [bio], CMC’s first Associate Program Director, to our community! David will be working with CMC private lesson faculty and students to increase participation and strengthen curricular ties and communication among several areas of CMC’s onsite programs: private lessons, ensembles, summer camps, and music electives such as music theory and composition. David will also work closely with our Program Director Sylvia Sherman in hiring and evaluating faculty and will be a key person to support CMC’s Faculty Council.
