Meet Savinnie Ho, violist and Instrument Petting Zoo superstar
Savinnie Ho has been participating in CMC’s Young Musicians Program as a violist for the past three years. During this time, she’s volunteered to demonstrate her instrument in CMC’s Instrument Petting Zoos a number of times. These events give people of all ages a chance to try out an instrument, and sometimes inspire a new musical journey! Savinnie led demos at our annual Spring Gala at the Fairmont Hotel and during CMC’s quarterly Sunday Open House and Jam Sessions. We asked her to share some of her experiences with us and really enjoyed talking with her.
Practice tips and CMC memories from veteran piano teacher Randy Craig
Pianist Randy Craig has inspired many a student at CMC over the years with his generous teaching, playful music, and of course his extra dry sense of humor. After 28 years of teaching here, Randy is moving on. As a staff member, I’ve really enjoyed running into him in the Capp Street hallways and jumped at the chance to interview him for the Do Re Mi. Read full interview.
CMC would like to thank to Randy Craig for 28 years of dedication and great teaching at CMC!
The special moments at CMC often happen when you least expect them. This little scene made my day last Wednesday. As I was setting up the room for the Music for Children classes, I glanced out the window down at the courtyard. There I saw Owen, one of my students, and his mother who had arrived with time to spare. Someone else in the courtyard had invited Owen to sit in the chair, feet dangling, and adjusted a cello, and showed him how to use the bow.
