Meet student and super intern Joshua Urrutia

Violist Joshua Urrutia initially came to CMC through the Mission District Young Musicians Program. Through his Service Learning class at Urban High School, he has also been spending an afternoon each week supporting the work of CMC this term. Through music making and volunteering, Joshua truly has become part of the Community Music Center family. 

Eight-year old Loren Gigi's love of music is nurtured at CMC

LorenFor eight-year-old violin student Loren Gigi, CMC is more than a place to learn how to play an instrument. It is a place that has taught her to truly appreciate music, to not give up, and to set goals. Read more.

sept14JamWe had a great time at our first Open House and Jam Session last fall and can't wait to do it again! The next one happens on Sunday, January 11 from 3:00-5:00pm at CMC's Mission District Branch. Bring your family and friends - try out a new instrument or come to one of our jam sessions!

CMC older adult choir program continues to grow

SFS Coros

Fall has been a busy time for CMC’s Older Adult Choir Program.  Solera Singers and the 30th Street Chorus have performed for Grantmakers in Aging, Senior Corps’ Foster Grandparents and the San Francisco Symphony's Dia de los Muertos event. They have Thanksgiving performances coming up at the Richmond Senior Center and the Western Addition Senior Center and holiday performances at OMI, 30th Street Senior Center, Bayview and Mission Neighborhood Center. Visit for more event information!
