Interview with CMC Chamber Music Camp Director Poppy Dorsam
Delight in playing chamber music with others! Students between the ages of 12-18 with at least three years of lessons on their instruments are invited to participate in CMC's new Chamber Music Camp! Campers will play in supportive small ensembles coached by CMC faculty and participate in master classes and large ensembles geared for their instrument. Pre-formed groups and individuals are encouraged to apply.
The mission of Community Music Center is to make high quality music accessible to all people, regardless of financial status.
CMC violinists perform at SF Chamber Orchestra family concert
CMC's violin ensemble at our Richmond District Branch, led by Sin-Tung Chiu, performed at a wonderful family concert hosted by the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra. The event took place at Calvary Presbyterian Church on March 28.
CMC's Faculty Chamber Music Concert: Genghis KAHNcert
What would the world sound like if Genghis Khan had never been defeated? With its rich mix of people and cultures from East and West, it probably would look a lot like San Francisco. But would classical music sound radically different? Turns out, his sound-world isn’t too far beneath the surface of many classical and contemporary works. Once again, our faculty wowed us at their annual Faculty Chamber Music Concert.
Teen jazz musicians from our Young Musicians Program performed at a dedication of the James R. Herman Memorial Sculpture at the Pier 27 cruise terminal. They made us proud that day! A big thank you to Scott Foster who directs this YMP Jazz Ensemble and guest artist and CMC faculty Harvey Robb.
