PTSA
Meeting . You and your student are invited to join us Monday, November 7 at 7:00 pm in the Commons for our PTSA meeting. We will have a brief business meeting followed by a presentation, It’s Not the 70’s Anymore –What Every Parent and Child Should Know About the Juvenile and Criminal Justice Systems, by attorney Karen Steinhauser. Karen will provide information about the implications of MIP’s, Curfew Violations and other juvenile offences. Please join us for this important and informative session.
Join PTSA Today. We have 260 members of PTSA and would like to reach 300 members by November 1! To join, please complete the membership form and mail it to or drop it off at East. Dues are $11.00 per person. While PTSA meetings are open to all, only members can vote on important issues before PTSA. As a member you will also have the opportunity to attend our Teacher Potlucks three times during the year.
VOLUNTEER!
East Teacher Appreciation Committee. The East Teacher Appreciation Committee (ETAC) provides food and treats to our East teachers and staff at various times throughout the school year. ETAC is looking to extend our list of families who would like to help provide these goodies. Please send your name and email address to eclmmwoody@aol.com and we will add you to our list. We will notify you when there is a request. This is a great way to volunteer and the teachers love this special attention.
Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities. PTSA can’t be successful without its volunteers. We have many opportunities to become involved, a little, or a lot, at East. Please visit Volunteer Spot and sign up today!

COMMUNITY
BoldLeaders Looking for Host Families. BoldLeaders has a fantastic opportunity for you and your family to have a global experience for two weeks this December (12/3/11-12/16/11).
Headquartered in Denver, BoldLeaders is an organization dedicated to providing leadership development and training services for young people and adults all over the world. The Bold Leaders Sub-Saharan Africa program is looking for gracious families who want to open their lives to the expansive experience of making a “home” for a youth or adult from Kenya or Tanzania.
For the youth exchange students, we are looking for homes that have a teen (ages 14-19) that can share the American teen perspective and learn the African youth’s joys, concerns and dreams. The exchange students will attend high school with the host student for two days and the remainder of the time will be spent with other BoldLeaders.
