The Booster Club is excited to host the entire Churchill community for this special evening on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the Pony Express – Bolger Center. Enjoy a night of laughter, great food, 'wagering' on your favorite horses with 'fun' money and terrific prizes. The Boys Varsity Lacrosse game against Walt Whitman, tonight at 7 pm, concludes a a two-part community appreciation event the Booster Club and Athletic Department are hosting to thank Churchill neighbors and friends. Round one of the community outreach featured the Churchill Girls Lacrosse team against Bethesda Chevy-Chase last Friday. The girls were victorious, displaying solid skills and finesse, earning a 10-7 final score. Both of the community evenings feature exciting lacrosse as well as FREE admission to all students in the pre-high school Churchill cluster. The Churchill track and field community is gearing up to host the third annual Friday Night Spikes track and field extravaganza this Friday, April 11 at 5:30 pm. When the event started in 2012, it was Churchill's first nighttime track and field competition, a dual meet against Wootton High School. It has rapidly grown into a highlight of the season. This year there's added excitement because Friday Night Spikes will expand to include Wilson High School from the District of Columbia in the first dual meet between Maryland and D.C. schools in recent memory.
Congratulations to Varsity Baseball, which became the first spring sport to achieve 100% membership in the Booster Club during the first week in April! On the field this year, the Varsity team opened strong winning both games of a split double-header pre-season scrimmage against Avalon and Damascus High Schools. The Varsity Bulldogs went on to win their season opener against Magruder, along with games against Springbrook and Walter Johnson. Churchill suffered two losses (Quince Orchard and B-CC) and Monday's game against Whitman was rained out. The team is now looking for a win against Blair at 3:30 pm this Wednesday at home. The season has roared into high gear with Varsity Coed Volleyball storming to a 5-1 start and the Varsity Boys amassing a 4-2 record thus far. Coed Varsity Volleyball is led by experienced seniors Alex Wang, Daniel Liu, Raymond Roxas, Kaitlyn Hillard, Katherine Liu and Olivia Chao. Their teamwork, outside hitting and grit showed in an especially tough 3-1 match against powerhouse Richard Montgomery. Assistant Coach Cindy Hillard is optimistic about the season and is looking forward to more tough matches.
Boys Volleyball features veteran seniors Alex Fang, Andrew Tsao, Brian Chen, Jake Monson and newcomer senior Ahmad Al-Ali. “These guys have great chemistry on court and in practice and are really pulling together,” commented second- year Churchill coach Erika Eastham, who is a Churchill alumna.
More exciting volleyball is ahead, concluding with a Senior Night celebration at CHS between matches on April 28 vs Poolesville. Boys play at 5:15 pm and Coed starts at

Churchill Bulldogs were abundantly represented among the Washington Post's 2013-2014 Winter All Metropolitan selections. The Booster Club extends congratulations to senior Emma Coleman (Girls Indoor Track), senior Harrison Gu (Boys Swim & Dive), senior Mashal Hashem, sophomores Hannah Lindsey, Brighid Dunn, and Elaina Faerber, juniors Elaina Gu and Kali Becker, and freshman Emily Wang (Girls Swim & Dive), sophomore Junmo Kim, junior Ross Allen, and senior Noah Fleishman (Ice Hockey), and senior Hunter Sutton (Wrestling) who was also recently named the Gazette Newspaper's Wrestler of the Year. Anyone interested in trying out for varsity poms for the 2014-15 school year is encouraged to attend an informational meeting on . The meeting will be held at Churchill High School in room 116for students and their parents. Please contact the poms Coach Lichter at with questions.
The Churchill field hockey program is holding a skills clinic on Sunday, June 8, from 9:30-11:30 am. Girls in 3rd-8th grade are invited to meet the coaches and learn field hockey skills from current varsity and JV field hockey players. To sign up, parents can fill out a short registration form online here – or they can access the registration form from the team website at www.churchillfieldhockey.com. The cost for the two-hour clinic is $20; all proceeds will go to the Churchill field hockey program via the WCHS Booster Club. Don't have the proper equipment? Don't let that stop your young player! The team has a limited supply of sticks and eye goggles to borrow.
For girls in grades 8-11 who plan to try out for the field hockey team this fall addition, there will also be a field hockey interest meeting at Churchill on Tuesday, June 3, at 4 pm. Questions? E-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
